I am a firm Christian, who believes the Bible is the unerring and inspired word of God, and that Jesus Christ is His son who died for our sins (John 3:16). I believe in modest femininity, pure living, and I wear dresses and/or skirts only, based on my convictions regarding Deut 22:5 and similar verses. I also wholly believe in courtship, not dating. A homeschool-graduate, I am an outspoken conservative, believe quite firmly in traditional marriage, and am completely pro-life. I don't condemn others who differ from me, but I do reserve the right to disagree; and while open to questions, discussions, and debates, whether they be religious or otherwise, I hope others would treat them in the same good-humoured manner that I try to maintain.
I am an avid enthusiast of Fashion History as well as Costuming and Costume design, and while I have yet to actually make a costume for myself, I currently express and exercise my enthusiasm by drawing period costumes, visiting other costumer’s websites, and watching as many period dramas that I can get my hands on. [before you ask me which are my favourites, look here!] For the time being, I content myself with admiring other people’s beautiful clothes from past eras. Someday soon, however, I hope very much, to start making some of my own. A Regency dress (c. 1805 – 1815) would have to come first, but I also adore bustle dresses (c.1876) and the latter half of the 18th Century as well. I also try to emulate period hairstyles with my own long hair. Other things that I like are pretty, sparkly things (like dangly earrings!) and beads. I love beads. I have shoeboxes filled with them, because a girl can never have enough jewelry. ;-P (Newsflash: I'm a girlie-girl!)
Ever since she taught me how, my mother has been hard pressed to keep me in books because I love to read. Jane Austen is an interest of mine that some might consider to border on an obsession, since I talk constantly about it, but I am really not the obsessive type. Some of my favourites are Jane Austen's Emma, Pride & Prejudice, Elizabeth Gaskell's wonderful North & South, Wives and Daughters, and last but not least Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey. The works of GA Henty are also something I love dearly, In Freedom's Cause and Wulf the Saxon being two favourites, and Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe might very well be one of the greatest of all classic literature. Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre is also a favourite, and having gotten into Sherlock Holmes I really enjoyed The Hound of the Baskervilles. Elizabeth Gaskell and now Evelina by Frances ("Fanny") Burney is my most recent "discovery" and since they are both so under-appreciated and shamefully ignored, I have appointed myself to remedy that malady. ;-) I have an ever-increasing Reading List and I'm always open to suggestions, if you would like to name some.

I'm pretty picky when it comes to movies and TV but when I like something, I usually like it a lot. So you'll see a lot of icons of my favourite costume dramas, such as Pride & Prejudice, Emma, Northanger Abbey, Sense & Sensibility, North & South, Wives & Daughters, Jane Eyre, to name a few. Jane Austen adaptations are one of my perennial obsessions and make regular appearances in the DVD player. Having gotten onto the North & South boat rather late, what I lack in seniority I make up with enthusiasm, and the other Gaskellian adaptations of Wives & Daughters and Cranford are also favourites. ;-) I also really like westerns, costume dramas, period pieces, and even the occasional crime drama, including Without A Trace and the recent Batman Begins/The Dark Knight franchise.
One of my many hobbies is graphic making. From elegant ladies in pretty dresses, costume dramas to paintings and portraits, many subjects are victims of my GIMP software. I find it incredibly relaxing and creatively satisfying, (at least when my creative juices are flowing properly!) and I love icontests! ;-) I participate regularly in quite a few, I co-mod over at costume_stills, ns_stillness, costume_awards, poto_stillness, and make the winners' banner for both regency_stills and victorianstills. I would also like to make it plain that I give all credit to God for any and all gifts I may have. Everything we have is on loan from Him, and that includes our lives, talents, and abilities.
